What is a sewing lounge?

The Sassy SEWer is Baltimore’s first and only sewing lounge. The Sassy SEWer is one of several sewing lounges to sprout up across the country. A sewing lounge is a place where seamsters meet to share and learn all things sewing. At the Sassy SEWer you can try sewing without purchasing expensive equipment. The Sassy SEWer is proud to offer comprehensive beginner to advanced sewing classes for kids and adults. 

Why come to the Sassy SEWer?

Have you been considered learning to sew?  Do you want to improve your existing sewing skills or just create and stitch with old and new sewing friends.  Visit the Sassy SEWer.  The Sassy SEWer offers a creative space for you to learn, create and share sewing with others.  You will love how much fun you will have sewing with others. It’s also a great way to learn, share resources and pick up tips and tricks from seasoned seamsters.

What kind of classes do you have?

The Sassy SEWer offers Kids Can Sew & Fashion Design classes and You Can Make It  sewing classes for teens and adults.  We also offer tailoring, fashion illustration, patternmaking classes, just to name a few.   Some classes meet weekly, others meet for half (3-4hrs.) and full days
(7hrs.). 
Classes range from beginner to advanced sewing.    See the class schedule for the current offerings.

How do I register? 

Register online to  see class details, dates, times and available seats.   Online payments can be by MC, V
isa & Discover only.  In person registration can be made with Cash, MC, Visa or Discover.  Additional Kit fees are payable at the first class.

What about class size?

Each class/workshop must have at minimum of four students. If not, the class will either be canceled or rescheduled at the instructors discretion.  You will be asked to attend another class date or be issued a class credit to be applied to a class of at least equal value.  Please register early and often to prevent class cancellation. Private lessons are available by appointment only.  


What is the refund policy?

Classes/workshops are taught by local and national sewing instructors who teach at various venues around Maryland and the country, such as Gail Patrice Designs, Sandra Betzina, Rae Cumbie and Sarah Veblen classes/workshops are non-refundable, you will be issued a class credit to be applied to a future class of equal value. 

Can I makeup my class?

Yes, but only YCMI or KCSFD classes can.  These classes meet regularly (weekly), attending class on an alternate date is possible.  You will have two months from the date of the missed class to makeup the class.  Missed classes can be made up by 1) attending another class, with instructor permission or 2) attending class a predetermined date and time set by the instructor.
